First, most bills introduced into law never come out the backside looking like it came in. The bill also addresses trucking, road way repair, sidewalks, biking and ease of access for the handicap second, looks like Fox News has taken down the article probably due to miss information. Third, below is his bill introduction and reasoning behind it. I would point out NTSB has been trying to get speed governers in place so not a Califorina thing. The EU will have this in place in July of 2024. May of us on the forum were all freaked out that it would spill over into the driver aid systems. Do I agree that we should have them? No. But if CHP has issued 3000 tickets to people driving over 100mph in course of one year and that is people they caught, makes you wonder if it's not a bad idea.

IMHO as a former police officer, although excessive speed is part of the problem, it’s the fact that drivers are distracted, and that the laws currently on the books are not being enforced in court. How many times have you heard of someone hogging the left lane get a ticket? There’s a law for that in most states. That act alone causes traffic backups, road rage, unsafe passing (in the other lanes), etc…

Too often our government punishes the many for the crimes of the few. How about we start with punishing the few FIRST.

Discussing a proposed bill in Commiefornia about mechanical or electrical speed restriction on automobiles is a perfect topic to discuss in this forum especially, considering that many requirements imposed on providers and producers of products manufactured in the State of Commiefornia, or other states, are placed, or imposed or installed, on the products delivered to all 50 US states. As an example, look at the warnings with respect to cancer i.e., Proposition 65: Breathing the air in this area or skin contact with petroleum products can expose you to chemicals including benzene, motor vehicle exhaust ad carbon monoxide, which are known to the State of California to cause cacer and birth defects or other reporoductive harm. Do not stay in this area longer than necessary. Proposition 65 warnings are placed on almost all products that I know of and it would not surprise me if they made their water departments place them on their water bills. Simply put, in my opinion: in todays time you cannot separate politics from any issue as politicians are moving the issues to obtain votes.

Your contentions above with respect to "incomplete information or misinformation" and "looks like Fox News has taken down the article probably due to miss information" seem to rather spurious or disingenuous at best as I just checked Fox News and the article is still up and quite frankly, a news article is never considered to have all the information on a subject they are discussing. Just a little blip is all.

As to why this aspect of the bill was introduced, well Jiman01 said it very well: "Too often our government punishes the many for the crimes of the few. How about we start with punishing the few FIRST". I call this the Head Coach Syndrome whereby all are punished for the mistake of one which is dang pathetic stupid thing to do.

Now just think about trying to pass someone were the speed limit is 55 and the other driver is going 51 (he is from Kansas), on a heavvy trafficked two line highway and your headed up a reasonable incline. Not a good situation and hopefully this BS about speed governors (limiters) gets tossed in the garbagecan.

Finally, as to what other items are in the bill - who cares! It is the speed limiting aspect of it that will get someone killed and an item that will be implemented on all cars thereby affecting all drivers across the US.

@LC0013 All I said was I'm not looking for a political debate but added facts that bill is more than the speed limit. Second , when I click the link of your posted article i get a 404 error code. third I don't disagree as someone who works in the financial industry, the rules and regulations put in by government is ridiculous because a few people. I was in camp that we should let the whole banking industry burn to ground in the GFC. The laws that have been inacted has created more barriers to business. The last point about the complete bill is important because it paints the complete picture that it is not just a speed limiting bill. Plus, when you negotiate, you ask for world and then you give up the most ridiculous request to get what you really want. And when I look at it, it is the other component that would be most accepted by the general public.

As former police officer, why aren't the police pulling those people over and giving them a ticket? Why aren't the laws being enforced? I have no idea but I would be interested in your experience. I bet that is a great place to start in terms of reducing speeding.

It does not help your argument to use phrases like "commiefornia" as it makes you look like a biased lunatic. Speed limiters are not uncommon around the world and they seem to reduce the overall death rate. Remember this is an international forum and some of us have first hand knowledge of real communist states.

You have a law in book that requires you to submit your age to access information deemed harmful to kids like porn or harmful websites. My understanding you need to submit your licenses but more important the government is monitoring your internet access. Plus isn't the patents responsibility to make sure their kids are using computers correctly. Why does the government need to censor your access to information.

Where is the outrage from news networks? The arkansas government infringing on our freedoms.

Yep, submit age for porn and gun websites are stupid at best. But, it is a slippery slope and it will get worse.
