Hi everyone,
Took my Trialmaster in for service 1 ($1200usd for oil and diff fluid change, good lord...), and they gave me a brand new 200 mile on the clock fieldmaster as a loaner.
I'm happy to report that it makes all the weird bongs, clicks, and clunks that mine does.

First among them was the big clunk when downshifting into second gear. I was always suspicious that I might have a transmission issue, but the other one clunks just the same. Hooray!

The ADAS still clicks incessantly, seems the new arrivals still do this. Sadly, it's not set up on FAV, so it's a process to shut it off. They do say the new software update will solve this and the check engine light after fueling.

And, my phone will no longer pair with my infotainment system, and it also won't with the new rig, so it must be my phone that's got the problem.

Only other discovery-the safari windows are pretty cool. Sorry I didn't get them now.

Many discoveries today!! :)

Also, the steering pump and hvac fan whistling are just the same. It may sound odd, but all this made me like my Trialmaster more, because it's confirmation that mine isn't somehow defective. lol.

I really do love my rig. Makes me smile every time I get in, even with the weirdness. I find it endearing.

lol I guess the above is an example of really trying to glass half full it.

What year was the loaner? The '25 Quartermaster with 300 mile loaner, while my <30 mile '24 IG was in service to get the software upgrade, had zero clunks coming to a slow stop and no steering pump squeal.

I'm still dumbfounded that there's a pump squeal thread with 25K views because IA is telling first time owners like myself and many others to kick rocks. Auspicious beginnings!

What's the point of having it half empty?

These are fantastic vehicles for their intended purpose, long distance off pavement travel. Using it for anything other than that (as with anything) has drawbacks

Never said anything about half empty, bud.

I want a sht eating grin when I drive, but for me, the IA response to the pump squeal has really soured my experience thus far. You hear it EVERY drive. The clunk occurs while braking for EVERY stop. Hope that's OK with you. What a bizarre culture here. lol

If your hairline's receding, as a hair doc, I'm going to tell you your combover is not a good look. Do something about it.

It's an awesome looking thing that drives like an enthusiast's truck no doubt. But IA's response to these couple of issues, for me, has been supremely disappointing.

@anand - I agree. Just shave it, and get “666” with a bar code tattoo’d where your hairline used to be. It will give the neighbors something to talk about - plus the extra benefit of not giving money to someone like a hair doc. It’s a two-fer.

Because horny cats under the hood are irritating around town, but add to the off-road experience? Nothing anyone new is complaining about is necessary for off-road ability. It never has been. The tranny would work without a clunk, the steering would work, shout a squeal, the hvac wouldn’t cause anyone to get stuck if it blew cold and not smelter.
