I drive to Canada from Montana periodically and I cannot set distance units from miles to kilometers. I've seen photos of the distance units toggle on a few vehicles.

Distance Unit option is not available on my Grenadier. It ruins the drive when I visit BC or AB.

** When will distance units toggle become available to North American Grenadiers? **

I understand that the distance units option was available on early (North American) Grenadiers, but overwritten (deleted) owing to one software update or another. This is major pitfall for me. Please, I need distance units.

After thinking about this a bit, consider the following -

What if my sold-in-America Grenadier had the distance units toggle enabled? I would drive around in the States showing mph in compliance with the law. Upon visiting Canada, I would drive around Alberta showing kph in compliance with the law.

Solution 1
I drive 700 MILES to my Ineos dealer. Upon arrival, I sign a waiver stating that I am content to run my Grenadier in outlaw mode with respect to distance units. I take full responsibility for operating my Grenadier this way. The dealer then installs appropriate software to re-enable distance units on my Grenadier. Then I drive 700 MILES home showing mph.

Solution 2
Ineos Automotive sells me the full-on factory diagnostics, dealer-shop laptop/vehicle interface/software/lifetime ID credentialed package. I stay home (1400 fewer miles on Moreli). I install appropriate software to re-enable distance units on my Grenadier. I drive around thinking I'm a rebel; eyes peeled for the cops.

I want the distance units toggle.

Not sure which option is more comical 🤣

While I like your thinking - it's quite logical - but a waiver of any sort would open the chance of litigation at some point so IA wouldn't go for that. On the second front, IA's grip on its IP/software is tighter than a clam's ass.

Actually it was enabled with a software update and then removed when they pushed out the ADAS update. I had the option and used it when I went into Canada and then switched back when getting to the US
Yes, this was done per request of early purchasers, It was later discovered it was not compliant and then reversed. It has nothing to do with the software, it was version coding that likely happened at the same time as a software update.

Hello Sir, @MrcdsDR

To the uninitiated, there is a fine line between "nothing to do with the software" and "version coding". I'm not asking for clarification of the distinction, unless it directly relates to my question, below.

Let's say I have a great relationship with my dealer, practically bosom buddies. Can an American dealer, if they wanted to for any reason, enable distance units on a Grenadier they sold?

Quite honestly, I am desperate to have distance units enabled on my car. If the idea is feasible, I will approach my dealer and offer them real money to give me the distance units toggle.
