My Diesel engine cover has been replaced at the end of June (in Italy) - and do not know the reason. They did not tell me about the battery/alternator wire. Will ask them next week.

I was told last week and it is booked in for 4 August, as there is a 6 week lead time for the parts. The only parts mentioned were the engine cover and new door locks/buttons. There was some vague mention of wire positions, new firmware and minor adjustments. There was 8 "campaigns" for my car.

I was told the engine cover has extra heat shielding, presumably to reduce the risk of heat build up and then a fire up near the firewall.

I had mine serviced at the end of may, they said they were ordering the parts mentioned. Not back home until October for them to fit them though.

We had ours in a fortnight back and got the engine cover replaced and some wiring rerouted. Neither of which we knew about?
Still awaiting the replacement locks though.

That'll now be October, 1st service.

I think but do not know for sure that this is just on the diesels.

The "extra" was for sound deadening. My engine cover never fit well and I replaced it with a BMW unit sans the sound deadening insulation. It sounds much better and will extend the life of the hoses by not trapping the heat.

I've just had the door locks done and they also did a 'starter motor cable clash' recall.
They also did a 'cat 6 lamp install' of which I'm not sure what it involved.
There are two electric cables attached to the starter motor solenoid housing. One cable has a "boomerang" shaped terminal which was improperly installed on the factory assembly line, such that its orientation was 180deg out of kilter. This in turn causes the cable to droop downwards and possibly contact the rotating front driveshaft. It's been a mechanical check undertaken by the Vic. and Qld Grenadier clubs at recent outings. A 2 minute job once the vehicle's system has been allowed to 'go to sleep' before the cable terminals have been unbolted and re-orientated. No jacks or lift necessary.
