If the B58 engine fitted to the Grenadier has an electronic oil level check which requires you to start the engine and run it up to operating temp to actually check the oil level, how do you know there iii any oil in before you start it.?

Is it the Schrodinger superposition system?

Just had a call back from Ineos on this one they confirmed the B58 has a dipstick (still awaiting conformation in writing)

Some say so, others so. All of them Ineos reps. 🙃

Did anything ever appear in writing? I’m genuinely curious on the location of the stick if it’s there. It seems most BMWs with the B58 use the computer info screen to check oil level so maybe Ineos made them include a dipstick.

Short Answer: According to the BMW tech. literature, a dipstick plus oil level sensor is a feature of the B57 engine, but not the B58.

Long Answer: 27 October,2022, elsewhere on this forum, Globalgregors posted the BMW Tech training/ Product Information docs on both the B57 and B58 engines.

In the B57 doc. pge 16 it states
3.1.5.Oil sump
Depending on the drive concept, 2 oil sumps are used in the B57 engine. The sealing of the oil sump to the cylinder crankcase is made using Loctite5970 (taken over from N57 engine). In addition to the oil-level sensor, the B57 engine has an oil dipstick to check the oil level.

The B58 doc. makes no mention of a similar arrangement.
