So the big take away from me is no mention from ASPW about sales agreements for the North American Market, it could be an oversight on his part, but he mentions the Middle East and Europe and SA. I guess we'll have to wait and see what unfolds with tomorrows press launch.

My hunch is that the sales model might trickle similarly to the US, especially in off-road enthusiastic areas like West Coast and D2C model for more interior locations.
The service might still be up in the air. I didn’t know Bosch had such a strong service presence. After seeing ASPWs video I checked how many Bosch service centers are near me and found 4 within 50 miles!! So maybe that’ll work. TBD

If it follows the Australia pricing and applying the same discounting as a 200 series LC then we might be looking at $70-$75K for a fully loaded one.
The one thing that really stood out to me was the two door version. I have always found the Troopys fascinating. When I went looking for my G Wagen I looked hard at the two door Kastenwagen but in the end chose the four door. I don’t recall Ineos stating different wheelbases in the wagon format. So the two door and four door would be the same wheelbase. If so then four door would still offer more practicality. However if they make the two door with the wheelbase of the pickup (longer wheelbase if I remember correctly) then..yeah maybe it might be a Troopy for America

I've not watched the video yet (will soon, swamped with work), but a basic conversion puts the starting price at around 85k AUD, or 52k Euro. Not bad given their target was a starting price in Europe of 45-50k, and I first heard that number being tossed around about 2 years ago I think? There was a lot of critique of that not being doable, and I saw this "optimistic pricing" being attributed to Ineos's lack of car experience. But, I think being within a percentage or two of that target, 2 years later, for a totally new car AFTER a global pandemic and a bunch of other things is VERY good news.

This puts it at $77k CAD or about $60k USD. That's pretty competitive with other 4x4s - not cheap, but not out of line expensive either.

It’s almost exactly £45k GBP, and I think they were targeting 45k in their ‘home’ market.

Thanks Dominic I didn’t do that specific conversion but that makes sense. Upon reflection it’s even better than promised

The global microchip shortage has driven vehicle prices upwards a ton (I recently sold my DD truck; 3 years old with about 28k kms on the Odo - and I got slightly more than I paid for it new). While I think that’s a temporary phenomenon, there’s also been rampant inflation (over 5% for most of the summer) in the USA. So, in many ways this pricing is actually better than promised in terms of “how many loaves of bread do I need to go without to afford the Grenadier” terms.

Totally agree with you there Trunks, it's almost unbelievable how the used car market has developed. And then we remember that oh, there's been a bit of strife recently and it all comes into context.

At $5 for a loaf of bread right now, its almost possible I can get the boss to sign off on another car for the family.

At least I can hope.

But in all honestly I'm surprised that they managed to get things made for that price. But, and its a big but, they can change this at any time and slap a 20% hike on them overnight. Although I've no doubt they'll competitively market and sell the Grenadier, the proof will be in the pudding as we say.

So Ineos, please take my money, just not too much...
