Hello Atlanta Area Grenadier Group,
A few of us are planning a meetup in Blue Ridge, GA, on Sunday, March 15th, 2026, at 11:00 am at Das Kaffee Haus. We’ll start with a quick get-together and then head out around 11:30 am. Our route will take us to Aska, to Newport, then to Doubleheader Gap Road. We’ll leave the paved road when we reach Forest Service Road 42. Along the way, we’ll pass the Springer Mountain Trailhead, which has parking and is a short 0.09-mile hike to the Springer Mountain summit and the beginning of the Appalachian Trail. From there, we can continue on FS 42 to FS 77, also known as Winding Star Gap Road. We’ll then take Nimblewill Branch 1 to Nimblewill Church Rd. We’ll meet the paved road just before HWY 52. Will can plan to end our trip in the parking lot of the Iron Mountain Park OHV Area, which is nearby, so we can all discuss our adventure. Let us know if you can join us.
Also, as an FYI, these trails are rated easy and open year round. The seasonal and more technical trails open around April.
