So typically the two year on a newer vehicle is based on the estimated payment for the following year. So what they are saying here is next year you should be around 1000$. The MVD does not do a bundle deal LOL. I typically do only one year at a time with my newer rides bc who knows when I'm going to just buy something different. For my older rides I will take advantage of the multiple year so I don' t have to go to emissions 4 times every single year.

You need to get a registration somewhere else, Montana AK, even NM. Lots of places to skip that crazy number. Look into an AK or Montana corporation, like $70 flat fee registration, have vehicle owned by corp, as only asset, sell corp to new owner -stays one owner vehicle indefinitely. It is the trick with Ferrari and Lamborghini, And now, apparently Arizona Grenadier’s

Yep, in AZ it is based on the value of the vehicle. I have always registered for 1 and 2 years in AZ and have new vehicle for emissions never had to take a newer car back. If the vehicle is newer than the cut off for the 2nd year you will not have to do emissions just pay the bill. The bill will just say no emissions required. If your vehicle is old you can still pay for 2 years but the next year will still get an emissions test required but no payment required.
If you register for 2 years and then sell the vehicle, you will get your prorated amount back minus a ~$12 fee required by law. On new cars unless you want to pay that high amount it is not worth it to do 2 years.
I know in Tucson they will periodically go around to schools, businesses, et. intentionally looking for out of state vehicles to leave a form that you have to get AZ tags or provide evidence you are allowed to keep an out of state tag. But that being said I have a coworker who's sister lived in Alaska and his vehicle has always been registered there. He has gotten those noticed but managed to justify it.
