Around the forum there have been some interesting differences for some M1 vehicles when it comes to UK road tax.

Mines been taxed twice - the day I bought her, and then 1 year on. Both times I was charged £190. I was surprised - knowing the extra £400 'wealth' tax slapped on each year for 5 years for having the audacity to own a vehicle priced over £40k.

Yesterday Postman Pat brought me an unexpected Christmas gift in the form of a new V5. Out of the blue. Suspicious as to why, I examined it carefully. had someone been playing silly bu88ers with my car ownership? Nope. They've added the line about the car being subject to an additional 'flat rate' until 30/06/28!

So the next three years will be £590 :( Unless our er, ummm, [expletive deleted] chancellor decides to put it up.

I thought it was too good to last!

Merry Christmas DVLA/HMRC :)

I saw somebody else write about this, I haven’t had a new v5 yet but I’m sure it’s coming.

I thought the point was to tax “luxury cars”. The Ineos is many, many things but certainly not a luxury car!

Thieving *****.

VED is a crazy, arbitrary tax, I really believe it should be scrapped and absorbed into fuel duty to make it a pay-as-you-go tax.

I'm the same with the £190 , it's pathetic the way the luxury tax works , hasn't once risen with inflation, now most half decent cars are over 40k

Lucky chap - watch out for a new V5 dropping on your doorstep.....

I did check on DVLA website, says my Grenadier is fully taxed, I paid £190 in November.
