Cars in with the Retailer to have the door seals replaced as coming away from bodywork. Has anyone else suffered the same?

Yes, both front doors have started to delaminate from the door frame paint work. Delivery agent suggested gluing them on and I advised this was not fix. BMW 5 series had the same problem in the 1990s due to not having tested preproduction build car to production specification. Ineos Grenadiers only tested pro type vehicles that were not of production specification. My vehicle has been off the road awaiting a radiator hose that had warn a hole and dumped 2.25 litres of coolant. Now Ineos will not supply a simple coolant pipe made by any specialist hose manufacturer and you guessed correct the manufacturer does not have any in stock! More likely Ineos haven’t paid the supplier. Side steps have arrived after 2 ½ months but cannot fit them? No software update to resolve all the electric warnings and errors have not been issued, promised to be a couple of days in May 2023. Low oil warning light cannot be checked as there is no manual procedure to check engine oil level. They cannot progress with investigating this red warning because they say they cannot start the engine until the new radiator coolant hose is received, VOR and still no date for delivery. Hose tape to test is not permitted!!! Dogma of the first order. Tutonic torture of being fed bullsh*t. 12 days VOR and no schedule. Don’t trust any thing any of them say. I emailed customer service 4 weeks ago and I am still awaiting a reply. Emailed an individual as suggested by someone on the forum, no response from anyone. Try contacting the French plant in Hambach - I would love the email address of the purchasing director so I can give him a piece of my mind. The after sale ‘Customer Service’ does not exists!

No parts, no backup, no communication, no customer service, no apology and the delivery agent cannot get any response or fix for the steering failure to centralise, oh but I forgot they cannot start the engine until the coolant hose is fitted if it ever gets shipped like the 2 ½ months I have waited for the side steps, but cannot get them fitted because they cannot start the engine until the coolant pipe is received!!! Bullsh*t and
MORE Bullsh*t.

Malcolm - really fee for you.

I just can't believe that Ineos prohibit a substitute hose.

However, this is not the concern to present owners. The concern is spare part availability and support of the vehicle as you highlight. My vehicle was produced in February and does not have fully functioning software, with no sign of any progress. Very worrying.............

Make sure dealer fixes this and do not attempt to fix it yourself, you will have no warranty for further issues on this matter. That is just how it is. Hold them accountable and do not accept 2nd best for an expensive new vehicle.

Fitting new door seals is a pain, if one part gets stretched then you get a bulge somewhere else, if it's too relaxed then you get a gap at the seal, If the seal is slightly oversize then it pops off and looks like the seal in post #2.
If there is a slight bulge in the door skin or on a corner so the seal isn't fully seated, it bulges.

Seals are a pain to get right.
I'm not a fan of glueing seals on.
Take it back to the join and carefully press it back in trying to maintain an equal 'stretch' all the way round.
Work upwards.
Use a roller to ensure it's snug, or a rubber mallet.
Be sympathetic.

Am, not sure why some of you are so against fixing things yourself.
The hose for example, it's a hose ... I get if it was a new pump or a different radiator, but a hose ?
Most aftermarket hoses (silicone in blue - for example) are better quality than the OEM.

Oh Dear, I too dropped all the coolant yesterday, it was from a hose at the back of the water pump...it's now on an AA recovery tow truck back to the dealer...your experience MalcolmT doesn't sound hopeful...lets keep the pressure on them to resolve.View attachment 7821875
Not only that but someone has pinched your spare wheel. Is there a reason you have removed it?

This is actually the thing that worries me the most about the Grenadier for remote travel. We have seen a couple of these, my neighbour who has a BMW X5 with a B57 has also had a cracked radiator pipe this week. We have also seen how close that bottom plastic radiator elbow is to the front bash plate.

If you are halfway across the Simpson desert and you lose your coolant, your trip is over and you will be paying several thousand dollars for a recovery. We need to be thinking about how we can improve the robustness of the radiator connections and cooling system. Maybe someone will come up with a replacement alloy radiator with more robust connections and silicone hoses etc, but it would be nice if INEOS had a fix.

Agree completely - radiator is a really surprising aspect of the design. The plastic base, and plastic elbow seem like a reckless oversight. Basically a seperate issue, the radiator just seems to be too ‘tall’, in the sense that it is too close the the ground, and thus the bashplate.
I also hope for a alternative radiator that is ‘deformable’ at the bottom end, but it would also make sense for it to be a good 50mm or more shorter overall; if the cooling is critical then perhaps it can be designed a little deeper… perplexing, given that the designers can’t have failed to be aware of this.
And the hoses…. Well, hopefully they check/replace every car asap. Its not just the simpson - just about anywhere in the outback this can be actually dangerous.

Yes, good reminder... I normally carry spare hoses for remote travels, guess an order will be going in... and check all fixtures and potential rubbing on delivery.

In fact these days, at least on the common routes, Simpson is less dangerous as so many people do it, many places much less travelled in the outback. But nevertheless expensive for recovery.

I believe Purnell Adventure the Sydney agent is looking to put together spares kits for remote touring.

But having spares or someway to fix it makes the issue a couple of hours... I would recommend some radiator hose repair tape as some hoses are crimped and not field replaceable

Is there a low coolant alarm and did this trigger when the hose failed? This can be the difference between an inconvenience and a cooked engine.

This is bloody dangerous on a freeway/highway, not just in the outback!

How much coolant is lost when the pipe goes?
Just figuring out how much drinking water I'll need to sacrifice,

If the rad is supplied by BMW with the engine, it’s likely an aftermarket full alloy unit already exists. Failing that a generic aftermarket replacement of the size needed with less height and custom mounts.
