CarPlay changes not making Waze available?

Got in my granted deer today and turned it on. The display came up and said something about CarPlay and new widgets and showed a clock. I swiped it away and eventually I got what looks like my normal CarPlay set up, but I can’t get ways to work? It looks like phone messages and other apps work like music. But every time I try to use Waze it crashes the system. I had my grant deer updated weeks ago, and I haven’t updated my phone lately, that I know of. This happened to anyone else.

Reset the head unit and that didn’t fix it. I kept closing out Waze, but it seemed like it was frozen. So a hard reset on my phone seem to get everything back working. Are there new widgets or some kind of CarPlay functionality?

For what it’s worth, if you have a lead foot, google maps now tells you where the cops are

That feature is pretty much the only reason I use Waze…. Debris on the road isn’t bad either.
