MOLL EFB BATTERY SPECS - SUMMARY
What is the correct charging profile for any battery charger for use with the Moll EFB auxiliary battery used in the INEOS? Moll's EFB recommended charge rate is 14.4 volts and the maximum is 14.8 volts for its EFB batteries. Choose a charging profile of 14.4 volts or close to that and not over 14.8 volts. Avoid choosing any Lithium charging profile for an EFB battery.
You must look at the charging profiles for the model and brand charger you own. There are variations between models and brands. This is a general guide only. There are no short cuts, so check.
TIP: also look here to understand what maybe causing drains on your battery.
Most of the following information has been extracted from a discussion here, from multiple members.
BOSCH
Bosch C7 12v 7amp battery charger with a six stage profile recommended by INEOS Tech help. This charger has a EFB profile.
The newer Bosch C10, C30 and C70 also have EFB charging profiles.
Warning: Some Bosch chargers have a regeneration mode, DO NOT use it on an EFB battery, as this mode goes up to 16.5 volts, above the maximum voltage allowed for the Moll EFB of 14.8 volts. "For regeneration mode, make sure that all connections between the battery and the vehicle electrical system are disconnected." (page 17, footnote 3 of C70 Manual).
BMPRO
It seems the STD and AGM profiles would work with EFB batteries using BMPRO chargers. This brand is more commonly found in caravans in Australia, but I have used their chargers for years on cars and in battery boxes.
BMPRO DC to DC charger - the ProBoost 25 and 40 charging profiles are
BMPRO AC to DC – the Battery Charge 15, 25 and 60 charging profiles are:
I have used the 15 amp successfully on the IG's main and aux battery, using the AGM profile for short periods.
CTEK
The CTEK 120S and 250SE units have an EFB charging profile.
Warning: Some CTEK chargers have a recondition mode, DO NOT use it on an EFB battery, as this mode goes up to 15.8 volts, above the maximum voltage allowed for the Moll EFB of 14.8 volts.
REDARC
In short, a Lead Acid profile or a profile based on the Max or recommended charge voltage.
If Moll's EFB recommended charge rate is 14.4 volts and the maximum is 14.8 volts, profile A below would be the one to use, or make a custom profile if the charger allows.
VICTRON
To come.
