Hello, I live in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada and we are neighbours. I am thinking about acquiring a Grenadier. However, the closest Ineos service point would be a 5000k return trip.
Do you have a service point in Alaska? If not, how are you doing to ensure proper warranty ?
Thanks a lot!
We don’t have an local authorized shop than can do reimburseable warranty work however we do have a very good shop that is quite familiar with the B58 engine and the ZF transmission and can do most regular maintainence. Regular oil changes, coolant fluid replacement, and things like brake pad and rotor replacement are very straight forward and could likely be done in Whitehorse or by you if you have the inclination.
We did recently have the Seattle dealer tech fly up from Seattle to do the factory warranty software update and door lock recall compliance work but neither of those items require much in terms of shop equipment beyond simple hand tools other than pc with the proprietary software to read engine codes and reset maintenance reminder notices. A group of local owners paid out of pocket for the costs of bringing the tech up but charges were very reasonable and we split them three ways for the three owners who needed work done.
Something major like a transmission replacement or any work that would require substantial equipment like a lift or special shop equipment will likely require us to go to Seattle for repairs done under warranty so buyer beware.
The one area that is somewhat of a problem is windshield replacement. Many of us have serious windshield cracks. The bad news is that though we can buy and ship windshields here but, so far, none of the local glass shops have agreed to replace the windshields as they don’t have access to the proprietary software needed to recalibrate the ADAS system.
The good news is that Elliot Bay Seattle has replaced many windshields so far and none have required recalibration. We are hoping to convince a local glass shop to try.
You are more than welcome to stay in touch or visit if we can help.
