I took mine for a short bumpy ride.
Attached recording of the sound.
Brought back the car to the dealer to fix the issue.
The culprit are some underside cable holders that got loose in the process of going over bumps, and the holders(and cables, probably) were now being scraped by the front shaft.
Fix is in progress (new clips or zip ties :))

Would that be the Bowden cables from the transfer box to the low/high range and diff lock shifter. 🤔

I will confirm with the dealer later today.
I am one of the few fortunate forum members who has the perfect love triangle for the IG:
I live 10 minutes away from the dealer (Automobile Bavaria Otopeni), the account manager is a friend of mine and the workshop has weekend shifts :)

He went over the board with everything so far - After I test drove the IG and explained what options I want, he got the car ready for me in three days, even the cars they already had sitting there were not equipped from factory with what I wanted. He exchanged the 18" alloys with 17" steelies, installed side steps and table, removed some things I did not want from the equipped car - rear dividers and roof rails, adjusted the price to reflect the changes, also made a generous discount.

After my first issue with the IG yesterday, I met with him at 8PM, crawled under the car, looked into how to fix the problem, assured me that it will be done first thing today. He could fix it there with zip ties, but kindly asked me to leave it for the technicians to inspect what went wrong (I drove it pretty hard for it's first shakedown trip), so they could improve it. Thumbs up so far!
I will keep you updated.

Is that for the transfer box (Bowden) cables 🤔
The agent said that it was the handbrake, but I don't think so because it was the front shaft grinding and the handbrake goes through the cabin a lot back. Possibly the Bowden.

Well for info I had the transfer box Bowden cables come out of their fixings and also the handbrake cable at an earlier point but the handbrake cable was discovered before it became a problem. All rubbing on the prop shaft. All fixed now with a belt and braces job

This was the culprit. It fell off the chassis and the steel insert was not present. Probably a factory assembly error.

I hade the same clip come loose on my Grenadier. My dealer replaced it when they did the trailer hitch and software update, but I need to take look at what they fixed. They did tell me they left my cable tie fix in place when replacing the clip.

Had the same problem today. One day of ownership in, and the plastic clip popped out allowing the cable to drag on the prop shaft. Sounded horrible, like grinding coming from the transfer case.
Glad it wasn’t more serious.
3 zip ties and I’m back driving again, hope they hold.

That plastic part has me scratching my head.

I encountered the same issue with the cable clip breaking and the cable rubbing on the drive shaft. It took me a while to diagnose the cause of the sound on the trail. I jacked up the front driver side tire, rotated the tire by hand until I located the source of the noise. I secured the cables with zip ties and problem solved. I attached a video of what the cable rubbing sounds like inside the cab.

This is a pretty common problem, mine had worn a pretty good groove into the cable before I discovered what the issue was. Mine appeared to not even have the retention clips to begin with. One owner showed a picture of a wiring loom that had dropped down and melted due to friction on the drive shaft causing his car to be out of commission for quite awhile. Seems like this should be a safety bulletin for all owners to check.

Any such issues should be immediately notified to ALL OWNERS. Not only are such things a MAJOR safety risk, but having this occur in any region or distanced area of the world would be a disaster. Anything that can shut down a vehicle should be already on my email/SMS... so I suspect that there is nothing wrong with my vehicle as I have had no such communication.

You will be better served by crawling under your Gren to take a look. The plastic clip is not suitable for the job and the cable surprisingly close to the t-case front output. I had mine in for the NA hitch update and mentioned it to them, they said they replaced the clip but the tech opted to leave my zip ties in place. This says to me, “the plastic clip doesn’t work”, as evidenced by the clip hanging from the cable when I got back home.

EDIT: @trobex - I do agree with your thought process, but think we are both better served looking out for ourselves (each other). I equate the newness of the Grenadier to decades of LR ownership ;)

Agreed. I had the plastic clip replaced last month, checked it today and it broke off again. Too much tension in that cable, use a cable tie for temporary fix but we need a permanent fix from Ineos.
