Is there a riding comfort difference between two identical tires, one E load rating and one D load rating?

Comfort will depend more so on tire pressure than specifically the load rating; technically the E has stiffer sidewalls which will inherently transfer more of the NVH from the road to the vehicle. The E will also (usually) weigh more, causing more unsprung weight which can increase suspension motion (there is more for the spring/shock to control).

In short, between D and E it is unlikely that you'll notice a huge difference, assuming both are inflated to correct pressures for the load

You can get 34/10.5r17 in a D. For something like a KO2 how much more puncture resistant would the E be? Anyone know? The D should have plenty of capacity.

Slightly? I don't think there is an actual metric, at least nothing publicly shared outside BFG...

Comparing a E rated 285/75/17 and the D rated 34x10.5R17
Section Width: 11.3" vs 10.5"
Diameter: 33.9 vs 33.5
Max Load: 3195 vs 3085
Weight: 61.3 vs 54.6
Tread Depth: 15/32 vs 15/32

Be aware that the K02 in 34x10.5R17 is smaller than specified by BFG. The actual diameter when inflated is closer to 32.9" not the specified 33.5". I learned this the hard way after installing them on my brothers Jeep.

Very good to know. Thanks

Very cool. So getting close to a 34" tire with no lift and no rub. Seems like those lift springs might allow a 35" tire to work?

Also you can air down a little more without breaking the bead.

For anyone that has fitted larger tires onto their Grenadier please let us know the size fitted and what, if any, difference did you notice in fuel economy, power (ie you have changed the gearing), transmission shifting, ride and handling. If you have fitted different suspension components what did you install and thoughts?

Cheers all

Has anyone done a 285/75r17? Just a little taller?
I saw a clip of some mounted on a blue Grenny, seemed to articulate completely into the wheel wells, couldnt hear any rubbing in the video but not sure if any trimming had been done. No idea where i had come across the video im afraid.

I saw that one as well. I was hoping TrailRecon would build one up. I like his videos.

I think that one had the Eibach spring lift in addition to the 285 tires.
> why they gave it a puny tank range still befuddles me

I agree. But here in Germany also filling this puny tank costs already a fortune to fill at $9/gallon: about $177.

weâll at least here in California we are at $7 for premium 91 octane petrol. Joy :-(
So sorry to let you have it, but here in texas we are at $3.59/Gallon for 93 octane.....

Bah! Amateurs! Here in America we take obnoxious overcompensating seriously. You roll up to the local Guns’n’Gas in this beauty to pick up some .50 cal ammo (for duck huntin’!) and everyone will know that you’re hardcore. With forty inches of girth…I mean tire, no one will ever make assumptions about your sexuality.

Its true, fitting bigger tires gets more expensive. Gears, lift, so on. However, I believe the IG will prove to be very easy to do. On an IFS vehicles 35"-37" tires might cost 20-30K! But 35s are now the basic, every day tire and most US trails are hard with out them. 37s are great, but 35s are the best all around.
