Really I felt like that was accurate. What is your experience?

If I get in the car, start it, and hit the FAV button, I can count slowly to at least 5, sometimes much longer, before it takes me to the programmed screen. Sometimes it never makes it there.

You are definitely not experiencing the norm. Has this been an issue since purchase? Are you on the list for a software update?

I have the same experience with my FAV button.
Lag of around 5 seconds.
Occasionally never goes to "speed" screen.
Occasionally goes to ADAS screen instead of "speed" sub-menu.
Occasionally goes to vehicle settings screen instead of "speed" screen.

If it goes to the wrong screen, I hit the FAV button again, returning to the screen prior to the first FAV press; then hit FAV one more time and it usually goes to the "speed" screen then.

Pretty much the same for me. Now that I know foot-off-accelerator stops the chirps, I'm much less worried about the Fave sequence at start-up, but I definitely use it underway.

Yep.

Besides the lag and inconsistency, I believe this breaks a user-interface "rule", which is that dedicated buttons ought to do the same thing every time and not be context dependent. (In this case it's more "random" than dependent though, LOL)

Holy shit guys.

I picked up my Grenadier about two months ago. I was immediately irritated by the speed warnings. It always thinks I am in a school zone, and if I drive "posted speeds" on the highways in Texas I'll get hammered.

I checked this forum when it had about six pages of responses and it taught me to favorite the ADAS screen. That was awesome.

I love my truck. The most annoying thing about having a Grenadier these days is the amount of questions and tours I have to do for onlookers. And, I tell them the most problematic thing is the warnings the reset every time I start her.

I wish Ineos would update the software to remember my settings. I have spoken to my rep about it (along with the question of where's my service manual), and haven't had a great response.

But, I still love this truck.

Checking back in today to see if there were any updates. 40+ pages of posts, and it's mostly about doxxing and anger and definitions?

This is unfortunate. I think I'll tap out for now.

Every 2024 car imported from the EU after July, 2023 has the exact same over speed warning. It’s not exclusive to Ineos. New BMW and Mercedes buyers are experiencing similar clicks and hoots.

There is discussion of an OBD2 solution for BMW. According to this thread you have to send your module to a company in Finland and pay 1200 Euro. The car will be disabled while the module is out and the warranty appears to be voided if a third party does the coding.

ok ill admit the chirping speed warning isnt as bad now that ive somewhat gotten used to the shortcut. But it still does suck, just not unbearable level of suck

I hit my Favorite button then go to the Auto Stop button, come back and turn the speed warning off, hope that AA is still running and click that.. then I cycle a couple of overhead switches that aren't connected to anything. It is my preflight routine. I couldn't shift to reverse without it..

I do not think it is just Ineos. I think it is all who have the desire to make these "safety" features mandatory.

Regardless of the vehicle, If I hear or feel something out of the ordinary it takes me away from actually driving properly trying to figure out what that was.


I heard last week about a law in California that someone wants to pass. 10 Mile over the speed limit warning to the driver. 10mph I could live with. 1 mile over on a road that may or may not have a speed limit sign or the correct posted speed limit in the national database. School zones regardless of the time or day of the week show 15mph on some vehicles that I drive and some stay whatever the actual speed limit is. It is like travelling in an airport security line. Every airport is different even though the TSA is supposed to have standards.

Oh, it’s far worse than that. Some US lawmakers want technology that will report speeding directly to law enforcement. Others want speed limiters as a mandatory installation on the cars of repeat offenders. Then, there is the whole self-driving thing…

Frankly, I have noticed an uptick in aggressive, even crazy, driving. I blame movies, video games and, of course, social media. Fast cars weaving in and out, using the shoulder to pass, are all Instagram-able or YouTube moments. There is an infamous YouTube video of a motorcyclist making the 70 mile drive from Colorado Springs to Denver in 20 minutes. He was traveling 150 mph. He does this stuff for clicks. Heres a video.

Speeders account for 1/3 of traffic fatalities. I’d wager testosterone and adrenaline account for 2/3 of speeders. To some degree, I imagine we’ve all done it.

The over speed warning in the Grenadier is, for me, a very minor annoyance and, it’s easily defeat-able. I enjoy defeating the nanny state.

For the time being, we may not know how good we have it.

And I can guarantee, Ineos is not going to permanently disable a government requested safety feature in a software update.

Interesting - The first things that came to my mind were a lack of education, training and enforcement of existing laws.

The Germans have a much more comprehensive licensing system and (having lived there) I think the results are great.

Try and take a German driving test! that would be awesome if we adopted that here but it would be considered racist ageist sexist and anything else our useless politicians bloviate about. I would estimate less than 1/16 of the current drivers we have could pass it on the first try. We suck at driver education or the ability of enforcement.

I don’t have any social media accounts aside from a few forums. The motorcyclist video was a highly publicized local news item. I appreciate the immediate personal attack and sweeping generalizations though.
