Anyone running dedicated winter tires? I have the stock BFG KO2's on mine currently and have run stud less winters on full-size pickups previously, has anyone found the need for dedicated winters up here? with the GVW being much higher than my tundra, I feel like it wouldn't be a bad idea to have some extra traction, at least on the stopping side of things, the AWD has been great so far this year.

I use 4 studded Hankook iPike tires and am glad I do. I live on the Upper Hillside in Anchorage and drive Upper Huffman daily which may be the steepest paved road in Anchorage and about an 8% grade. For me, I regard them as a necessity here. I started last winter without them but found that my car was prone to skidding on black ice. I attribute that the the weight of the car. It’s quite a bit heavier than my 4Runner it replaced.

If you want to try the car, give me a call and we can meet up.
